Case study · Events & ticketing

TicketRoot

Joistic designed and built TicketRoot, an event platform that runs ticketing, on-site check-in, cashless event wallets and attendee photos for large live events, including Comic Con and the Delhi Saras Mela. More than ₹5 crore in event-wallet transactions have run through it.

The client

About the client

TicketRoot is an event-technology platform for organisers of festivals, fairs, conventions and corporate events. It covers everything from the booking page to what happens at the gate and the food stalls.

The problem

What needed fixing

Large live events are hard to run on paper and cash. Thousands of attendees arrive within a few hours, entry has to be checked fast, and stalls across the venue need a way to take payments without handling cash.

Organisers also need to know, during the event, how much has been loaded and spent, which counters are busy, and whether every rupee reconciles at the end.

What we built

The system, piece by piece

Ticketing and checkout

A booking storefront with passes, coupons and online payments, plus registration forms for conferences and exhibitions.

Check-in, badges and zones

QR-based entry, badge and poster generation, and zone access rules so each pass only opens the areas it should.

Cashless event wallet

Attendees top up by cash, UPI, card or online. Stalls take orders against the attendee's pass QR, and every transaction is recorded with taxes per order.

Merchant and cashier tools

Stall ordering, cashier top-up stations, merchant insights (payment modes, top items, top customers) and settlement reports.

Crew app

A mobile app for on-site teams: door scanning, help desk, badge printing and cashless stations, with each crew member seeing only the tools their role allows.

Organiser panel and CRM

Event setup, audience lists, campaigns, sales and attendee data in one place.

AI

Where AI is used

  • Photo matching: attendees take a selfie and get every event photo they appear in, using face matching (AWS Rekognition).
  • Content generation: AI writes poster captions, email drafts and attendee avatars.
  • Data assistant: organisers and admins ask questions in plain English and get answers from the event data.
  • AI assistant tools: organisers can connect their own AI assistant (through around 125 MCP tools) to set up events, read stats and draft campaigns. Payments and refunds are deliberately excluded.
Controls

Built-in controls for cash-heavy events

  • A pass can't be checked in twice, and spends can't exceed the wallet balance.
  • Cashiers can only reverse their own top-ups, and every reversal is logged against the original transaction.
  • Role-based access for cashiers, security, merchants, crew and managers, so each person only sees and does what their role needs.
  • Settlement and cashier reports that reconcile top-ups, spends and refunds after each event.
Results

What changed

  • ₹5 crore+ in event-wallet transactions processed (confirmed by TicketRoot).
  • Used at large live events including Comic Con and the Delhi Saras Mela.
  • One platform for ticketing, entry, cashless payments and photos, instead of separate vendors for each.

The hard part of event tech is not the booking page; it's the few hours when thousands of people, payments and staff all meet. We build for those hours.
