Lash Assist Pro
Lash Assist Pro is a subscription app for lash artists, created by a Canadian lash educator. Joistic built and runs it, including Ivy, an AI assistant that looks at each artist's own session data and explains why clients' lash extensions hold or fall out, and what to change next time.

About the client
Lash Assist Pro (lashassistpro.com) is built for independent lash artists and small studio owners. It started in 2021 as an appointment and client-records app for a lash educator's community, and was rebuilt in 2026 around retention data and AI.
What needed fixing
Lash extensions that fall out early cost an artist clients and refills, but the cause is hard to see. Room temperature, humidity, adhesive, lash map and each client's natural lashes all play a part.
Artists are skilled professionals, not data analysts. They have a few minutes between appointments, so the answer has to be clear and specific, not a dashboard of charts.
The system, piece by piece
Session logging
Artists record each appointment: room temperature and humidity, adhesive, lash map, eye shape and the retention they see at the refill.
Retention dashboard
Retention health at a glance, with patterns by client, adhesive and conditions, and the most important number first.
Clients and appointments
Client profiles, booking, public intake and consent forms with signatures, and aftercare instructions.
Community features
A Rate My Retention leaderboard and Lash SOS, an emergency helper for problems mid-appointment.
Subscriptions and teams
Paid plans for solo artists and studios with team seats, coupons and founding-member pricing, billed through Stripe.
Help centre
A help centre with step-by-step walkthrough videos for every main feature.
Ivy, the AI assistant
- Ten specialised advisors, each with one job: daily insight, retention insight, retention prediction, pre-session advice, root cause of a poor result, session history, practice summary, lash design for an eye shape, SOS troubleshooting and open chat.
- Ivy reads the artist's own data first (client history, conditions, adhesive and patterns), so its advice is about their clients, not generic tips.
- Questions are routed to the right advisor by fast rules, without an extra AI call.
- Ivy's instructions live in versioned files that the client's team can edit from the admin panel, with every change saved and reversible.
Running AI responsibly in a paid product
- Every AI call is logged with its estimated cost, and an admin page shows AI usage per user.
- Ivy can be paused per user, and the app keeps working with a clear message if the AI service is unavailable.
- Predictions run in the background so artists never wait on them.
- Automated tests cover Ivy's behaviour, and releases deploy only after the tests pass.
What changed
- Live at lashassistpro.com with paid solo and studio plans.
- Artists get specific, data-based advice on retention instead of guessing why lashes didn't last.
- A five-year partnership: from the first appointment app in 2021 to an AI-led rebuild in 2026.
Good AI in a niche product starts with the user's own data and a narrow job. Ivy works because each advisor knows exactly what it is for.
